Synopsis

Orion is a side-scrolling shooter similar to Defender. Marauding aliens attack the player's home planet and it is their task to defend it and its civilians. This is done by controlling a spaceship left and right above the planet's surface while blasting the various enemy forces that attempt to both take down the player and abduct people standing on the ground. If an alien grabs a human and drags them to the top of the screen, they mutate and become a dangerous enemy. Humans who fall from a downed enemy can be saved by flying towards them, then brought back to the surface. If all civilians die, the planet will explode but the action will continue in deep space against a swarm of mutated aliens. In addition to regular fire, the player also has access to a limited number of smart bombs that kill all aliens on screen. There is also a hyperspace button that allows the player to quickly travel to another part of the stage, but using it too often can result in death.
