Synopsis

Overdrive is a racing game similar to Pole Position but only with straight tracks, no turns. The five tracks have different scenes such as fields, night, snow, desert and riverside. Starting at the end, the player must finish among the first in the racing pack to progress. This is visualized through a bar at the top of the screen. For each car passed, the indicator moves to the right. The player must reach the blue part of the bar to advance. At the end, bonus points are awarded for each car that was overtaken.

The car can be moved in five areas of the track. Two keys are used to speed up or slow down. High-speed racing is necessary to finish in the top in time, but it also makes it harder not to crash into the other cars. Once destroyed, the game can be immediately continued, but the speed must be replenished. Opponents can also crash into the back of the player's car when the speed is too slow. Progress is not saved, so when a course is not completed on time, it must be started again from the first step.
