Synopsis

Like Strikers 1945 Plus, Over Top has the luxury of having an introduction in animated computer graphics, something rare enough on Neo Geo to be underlined. The problem is that this 3D is not in the best taste and that the result frankly leaves something to be desired.

And when you start a game, you realize that the design of the cars is also not really brilliant (although quite detailed) with this 3D rendering. Fortunately, the decorations, varied and quite fine, are there to raise the level. There are eight vehicles each offering very different driving styles. It must be said that between Ferrari and a good old truck, there are some differences...

The game principle remains completely identical to that of Trash Rally: in isometric 3D, you drive a car and must advance as far as possible before the meter has completely run out.

Except that this time, it's not circuits but a road that will take you through the mountains, in the desert, etc. So, learning the routes by heart is absolutely not necessary, but you lose the learning aspect that makes Trash Rally so addictive. This desire to start again is very diminished since in Over Top, when the counter drops to zero, you have to start the entire journey again. A map also tells you how far you have come, like an Outrun.
