Synopsis

Have you ever dragged your gaiters to Japan? In this case, you obviously know the "Pachinko Parlors", these kinds of poor man's casinos (less pedantic, and therefore necessarily more accessible) where you can find slot machines... and pachinkos! Otherwise, chances are you don't even know what pachinko is... hence the regulatory explanation. What a teacher I am...
Pachinko, whose name comes from the Japanese word "pachi pachi" which represents the sound of small objects colliding, is often presented as being the Japanese counterpart of pinball. It's a bit of a restrictive view of things, but ultimately, it's not completely wrong. We start by buying a hundred small metal balls, which we will place in the famous pachinko machine: from there, all the balls are catapulted like in a pinball machine, at a speed that the player determines. The goal of the story is to hope that as many of your balls as possible will fit into special little holes that trigger various mechanisms, such as a roulette wheel: from there, it's like the slot machine, you have to hope to get the same symbol three times to hit the jackpot and thus win... new balls! Yeah, great! So there you have it, we play marbles to win marbles which allow us to play again, and therefore to regain marbles etc. etc. etc.... On PC Engine, the master of pachinko is Coconuts Japan. There are in fact no less than four PCE games recounting the wonderful adventures of Pachiokun, both on HuCARD, CD-ROM2 and Super CD-ROM2!
