Synopsis

Pools of Darkness is the fourth role-playing game in the "Gold Box" series based on the AD&D role-playing games. The way of playing is quite similar to other games of the same type. At the start of the game, the player creates a group of characters (maximum 6) and chooses from the classic AD&D races (dwarf, elf, half-elf, gnome, etc.). It also designates the class of these characters (fighter, paladin, monk, wizard, etc.), morals, ethics and these statistics (strength, intelligence, wisdom, etc.). Once the group is created, the player begins exploring the town of Phlan. Upon leaving town, the player explores a map, visits dungeons and other places of interest, and engages in combat in order to gain experience.
