Synopsis

After surviving the dangers encountered during his previous journey, the hero travels with the sorcerer Erasmus to a Greek-like country called Silmaria. Its king was recently assassinated, and according to the country's traditions, the crown will be awarded to whoever succeeds in a competition known as the Rites of Domination. The hero participates in the competition, helped by Erasmus, Rakeesh and other old friends. However, as the competition progresses, the contestants are systematically killed by an unknown assassin. All victims are murdered near the Dragon Pillars, which hold the Dragon of Silmaria captive. The hero must investigate crimes and save Silmaria from grave danger.

Dragon Fire is the latest game in the Quest for Glory series. Like previous games in the series, Dragon Fire is a hybrid between puzzle-solving adventure and role-playing game. The player speaks to the inhabitants of the world, gathering clues and necessary items to acquire to complete quests and advance the story. Unlike all its predecessors, Dragon Fire does not have a separate battle screen; Action-based battles take place on the explore screen, using a simple point-and-click interface, similar to Diablo. The game has heavier weapon and armor handling than other Quest for Glory games, reinforcing the RPG angle.

Many quests are optional or can be completed in different ways. The hero can also marry one of the game's many major female characters, provided the player does what it takes to impress the girl.
