Synopsis

Rayxanber is not very well known here. Series available only in Japan, it stands out more particularly for its totally abused difficulty. This second part is a beautiful illustration of this.
Horizontal scrolling shoot'em up, the game is deliberately very classic. Like an R-Type, you have to learn by heart the different levels that make it up to hope to be able to overcome it. But don't expect to do it in the snap of your fingers! Only the most daring will be able to see the end. The others will explode their controller, throw their TV out the window or take out their nerves on the cat, to see.
Because yes, Rayxanmber II is one of the most difficult shoots I have ever seen. The armament is minimalist and your ship will never be very powerful. Upgrades will allow you to shoot a little wider, but enemies will still seem much bigger than you. And that's what sets this game apart from the others: this heightened masochistic side. Still on the upgrades, it is possible to define the direction of your shot by recovering the bonus at the right time. The latter has a small needle that turns, a bit like a clock, and which specifies where the direction of fire brought by your future upgrade.
In addition to the main shot (no smart bomb, that would make the game too easy), you have a boost button, to go faster. This will be very useful to avoid certain enemies and other shots. The game does not forgive the slightest error: as soon as you are hit, you are assured death, and a return to the checkpoint. And there are really not many of them on each level. Fortunately, the continua are infinite... But this only underlines the difficulty of the title: we move forward, we die, we start again, and so on until the player is exhausted.
Rayxanber II is a masochistic shoot, only for hardcore R-Type fans, as it is so difficult.
