Synopsis

The world of Rez takes place in the near future, on a massively overpopulated Earth, with a society crippled by crime rates and on the brink of collapse. In an attempt to resolve the chaos, a new global network has been created: Project-K, overseen by a self-aware artificial intelligence named Eden. However, the increasing flow of information and infection with a virus (the main character) have confused Eden, allowing her to begin to question the meaning of her existence and the consequences of her actions. In trying to understand the paradoxes around her and realizing the power she possessed, she closed down.

The player character and protagonist is a virus hacker unofficially named Swayzak, traversing the Project-K network on a mission to awaken Eden and reveal the true being at its core by progressing deeper into the system and destroying the other viruses, anti-viruses, security programs, defense systems, and firewalls within.
