Synopsis

River Raid is a vertical scrolling action game. You fly a jet plane across a river in an attempt to destroy bridges that are vital to the enemy. The river is heavily guarded though, with hot air balloons, ships, helicopters and enemy planes trying to stop you. Along the way, you will need to fly past gas stations to refuel your plane and continue flying.

The plane is armed with a cannon with unlimited ammunition. It can be used to destroy enemy vehicles and bridges, but a careless player may accidentally destroy a gas station. A collision with the river banks or the enemy plane destroys your plane and causes you to lose a life.
