Synopsis

As a war strategy game, the objective of the player and their chosen faction is to claim all of China under their control. Players can gather information, invade other territories or improve their stats, as well as purchase weapons and supplies for their armies. The game offers the player a certain number of actions per turn before letting computer-controlled opponents take their turns.

Sangokushi refers to a novel written about the Three Kingdoms period in China, when the country was temporarily divided into three warring states. This differs from the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, a largely fictionalized account written sometime after the end of the conflict, which spawned numerous video game adaptations, including Koei's Romance of the Three Kingdoms series and their later Dynasty Warriors series.
