Synopsis

Scarper! is a side-scrolling shoot'em up where the player must protect ten computer scientists who have escaped from a prison on the planet Tubark. The computer scientists travel through a scrolling landscape that the player flies over on board a ship. They must travel many miles to reach the escape ship located on the far right of the map. During their journey, they are attacked by crudilites that the player must eliminate before they can harm the group of fugitives. The player's ship has an energy gauge which decreases upon contact with enemies, the ground or in the event of excessive fire. When it reaches zero, a character loses a life, but it can be restored by stopping shooting.
