Synopsis

Most of the core mechanics of this game work the same way as those in Desert Strike. You pilot a helicopter or a three-barreled tank through 14 missions consisting of multiple phases that get progressively more difficult, each preceded by a thorough briefing and a shopping phase.

Before each phase, you can visit the shop and upgrade your weapons, paying with the gold medals earned in previous phases. Your starting weapons are the machine gun and the rocket launchers/tank shells. Each weapon has three upgrade levels. Next, you can decide how much ammunition for each weapon you want to load into your vehicle’s weapon bays, switch from the tank to the helicopter (which can only be done between phases, and some phases don’t give you that option), choose one of the three special weapons, and adjust the fuel, armor, and speed settings. All these preparations are surprisingly complex for a shooter like this, and a poor configuration can make the game really difficult (running out of fuel in the middle of the desert or having armor as thin as paper are just two examples).
