Synopsis

Using the same graphical interface as Deja Vu, Shadowgate is an adventure game set in a fantasy world. Players take on the role of an adventurer sent to the ancient dungeon of Shadowgate to find a mystical artifact, the Staff of Ages, and stop the evil Lord Warlock from summoning a horrible demon, the Behemoth. However, Shadowgate is infested by the Warlock Lord's demonic minions, not to mention the castle's still functioning traps.

Unlike Deja Vu, death falls on you suddenly, unexpectedly and, above all, frequently. Simply press the wrong switch or open the wrong door to be skewered by a trap or disemboweled by a monster. It's also worth noting that if your torch burns out (which happens quite regularly) and you forget to light a new one, you risk tripping in the dark and breaking your neck.
