Sid Meier's Civilization
Synopsis
Civilization is a turn-based strategy game. The game begins in 4000 BC. The player takes on the role of the ruler of a civilization, which begins with a single colonization unit and one warrior, and attempts to build an empire in competition with one to eleven other civilizations. The game requires a fair amount of micromanagement. In addition to the broader tasks of exploration, warfare, and diplomacy, the player must make decisions about where to build new cities, what upgrades or units to build in each city, what knowledge advancements to research, and how to transform the land surrounding the cities to gain maximum benefit. From time to time, the player's towns may be harassed by barbarians, units without a specific nationality and without a named leader. These threats only come from undiscovered lands or seas.
