Synopsis

Soldier of Fortune tells the story of Krillys, who stole the Source of Power of the Zodiac and shattered it into six pieces. Sarnak is sent to retrieve it and hopes to save his friends Teron, Gorman and Tartarus. His journey begins in Ebbedown Forest and features gameplay reminiscent of “Ghosts 'n Goblins”. The path runs mainly from left to right, but includes frequent descending passages across precipices and ascents via rotating platforms. Some falls are fatal, especially those without an accessible platform; they are avoidable and are not completely random. Many magical teleporters appear along the way, and tall trees narrow the passage. Additional lives (by collecting eight crystals) and upgraded weapons can be found throughout the quest.
