Synopsis

Space Spikes is a space-themed arcade shooter for the Apple II featuring three distinct stages.

In the first stage, the player controls a ship that moves left and right while firing upward or sideways. Diamond-shaped enemies descend from above and attack from the flanks. The objective is to clear a path and launch through a gap in the enemy formation.

The second stage takes place in space. The player's ship moves vertically and fires left while battling spike-shaped alien vessels. Enemy ships fire back and launch homing missiles that must be shot down. Each alien craft requires three hits to destroy, and the stage ends when all have been eliminated.

In the final stage, the player pilots a larger ship capable of moving in all directions. The goal is to bomb enemy installations at the bottom of the screen while avoiding attack ships, powerful lasers, and heavy defensive fire. Destroying all enemy structures wins the game.

The player has three lives; losing them all ends the game.
