Synopsis

Star Avenger is a variation of the arcade game Scramble. You control a spaceship that moves through a side-scrolling landscape peppered with obstacles of various types, including missiles, planes, bats, and force fields. In certain areas, the topography of the ceiling and floor requires careful piloting to avoid crashing. Your goal is to get through everything without hitting anything. You can earn points by shooting certain opponents.

You have an energy gauge, which is full at first but depletes at a constant rate. If you run out of gas, you lose a life, but if you shoot gas tanks, you recover some of the lost energy. There's just one big level that repeats once you reach and destroy a reactor at the end. However, you can restart the game at any checkpoint. There is also a difficulty setting that can be selected (from 1 to 5) which affects the speed of the game.
