Synopsis

Star League Baseball is a baseball simulation released in 1983 by Gamestar, Inc. for home computers. While its teams featured generic rosters and a simple statistics engine, the game introduced several innovations that helped shape future sports simulations. Presentation mimicked a televised baseball broadcast, featuring attendance figures, trivia, and scores from other games between innings. More importantly, it introduced pitcher fatigue, bringing a human element to gameplay beyond basic statistics.

The game still had limitations. Relief pitchers could only enter in the seventh inning or at the start of extra innings, all players were right-handed, and every baserunner had the same speed. Despite these restrictions, Star League Baseball marked a major step toward realistic sports simulation by modeling aspects of the game beyond raw numbers. Its innovations helped pave the way for modern baseball and sports management games.
