Synopsis

Star Fighter is a fairly generic side-scrolling shoot'em'up with some Scramble influences. Your plane passes through a hilly landscape where aliens are sitting on the ground. You can strafe and shoot them on the ground, or wait for them to take off and fly into your line of sight. Your beam is short and thin, so it requires precision to hit them before they fly towards you. The game starts in four-color mode, then switches to high-resolution black and white mode, possibly to simulate night flight. Three gaming speeds are available and the screen scrolls quickly even at the slowest setting. Unlike the vast majority of games, it scrolls from left to right, instead of the other way around. Due to the use of analog sticks and the speed of your ship, there is a lot of inertia in your control, which feels more realistic than the straight path you travel in other similar games.
