Strategic Command
Synopsis
Strategic Command is a two-player strategy game played on a map with five islands. Each player has three bases that produce units: a military base, a naval base and a capital. The army and naval bases can only produce their own type of units while the capital can produce both. To win the game, a player must take control of the enemy's capital. The game is played entirely with joysticks. Holding the fire button switches control from one base to the other, and pulling the joystick and pressing the button produces a unit that matches the direction of the pull. There are sixteen unit types and they are deployed in task forces of up to three units. Task Forces can then be moved around the screen and when they get close to an enemy, combat will occur. Each unit has an attack factor and a defensive factor. Each attack will decrease the target's defensive factor with the attacker's attack factor. When it reaches zero, the unit is destroyed. Each player can lay mines through special units, a navy and an army, which can each lay two minefields. An enemy unit that moves over a mine will be completely destroyed. Mines can be removed by moving a minesweeper over them. There are no air units but air power is represented by the ability to recognize enemies. This option appears occasionally and allows the player to see the composition of a task force.
