Synopsis

Rumor has it that the legendary Black Onyx, an artifact that grants eternal youth and happiness to those who find it, is found in the Black Tower near Utsuro Town. You gather a group of brave adventurers and venture into the tower, defeating monsters on your way to the great treasure.

Black Onyx is the very first role-playing game made by a Japanese company. Its gameplay is similar to that of the first Wizardry and Ultima games, with monsters to slay and dungeons to explore, all with dark, realistic visuals. You create a party (up to five members) and explore a 3D maze-like dungeon, fighting random enemies along the way. You also meet adventurers who you can convince to join your party. The combat engine is turn-based.
