Synopsis

Radically different from other racquet sports like tennis, badminton uses a high-drag shuttle which gives it an irregular trajectory. In this video game adaptation, the player controls the Japanese player in a competition against five opponents: Canada, United States, United Kingdom, South Korea and China. Each match is played to the best of five sets, contested in 15 (boys) or 11 (girls) points. Four different courts can be chosen.
Along the d-pad, two buttons are used to control the player - one for swinging the racket, the other for jumping. By following the shuttle's shadow, the player can position themselves correctly, then hit it with perfect timing, giving it enough power and elevation to reach the opponent's side, then (hopefully) descend out of the opponent's reach. Jumping allows the player to hit the shuttlecock downward but still above the net, significantly reducing reaction time for a correct return.
