Synopsis

The gameplay system of Super Gem Fighter: Mini Mix / Pocket Fighter is slightly different from a standard Street Fighter: the red, blue and yellow gems in question are used to power 3 distinct gauges (of identical colors, obviously), these gauges being used to power a particular super combo. For example, Once his blue gauge is filled, Ryu will be able to launch a Shinku-Hadouken. In addition, the controls are simplified: the three fist buttons and those of the foot become a fist button, a foot button, a special button and a taunt button. Punches/kicks can be linked together, unlike combos. The special involves holding the button pressed so that the opponent falls within range when launching the blow. The blows often induce a humorous touch, the characters sometimes taking on funny costumes or animations, notably Chun-li hitting the opponent with a frying pan, or even Dan transforming into Elvis. Apart from these particularities, the principle of the game remains standard: 8 fights of 2 rounds, against 7 random opponents then a specific final opponent per character. Thus Dan seeks to defeat Sakura to convince her to become his first apprentice, the succubus Morrigan seeks to prove that she is more beautiful than Chun-Li, who in return seeks to capture Felicia the cat woman.
