Synopsis

Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo is a puzzle game inspired by Puyo Puyo. The player controls pairs of blocks which gradually fill the screen (which is 12 blocks high by six blocks wide). The aim of the game is to fill the opponent's screen (see Puyo Puyo and Tetris).

The two gems making up a pair may or may not be the same color. In addition to colors (red, blue, green, yellow), gems are differentiated by their gender:

normal gems (most common);
power gems (which are normal gems of the same colors merged together);
crash gems (about one in ten);
counter gems (their frequency depends on the interaction between players);
special gems (about one in 25).
Except for counter gems, players receive the same sequence of gems.
