Synopsis

Telengard is an early example of a dungeon crawler role-playing game - albeit with a top-down view - with real-time movement (DOS version) or turn-based movement and turn-based combat. Telengard also plays in real time, meaning monsters can attack even when the player character isn't moving.

The player controls a single adventurer, randomly choosing sets of attributes: Strength, Intelligence, Wisdom, Constitution, Dexterity and Charisma. The vast Telengard Dungeon consists of 50 levels and 200 rooms by 200 on each level. Experience is awarded not only for defeating enemies, but also for finding treasures. As the player gains a level, his attributes increase and he can cast higher level spells.
