Synopsis

With no stat adjustments or licensing, Tennis Arena is arcade-style tennis at its most basic.

What you have here is a single match or tournament game for up to four players with wacky characters and a few different terrains to play on. For example, you can play as an obese Chinese man and compete in a Roman coliseum whose clay surface seems to slightly affect the bounce. But that's about it for the options. No simulation, Tennis Arena offers pretty much the same level of fun as Pong did 25 years ago, albeit now with prettier graphics and the occasional super smash.

The game also features special shots, with visible trails, fighter jet-like sound effects, and higher bullet speed. These, however, must be earned. After successfully returning the ball over the net six times in a row, a yellow star appears under the character. You can then attempt to use the special shot, which involves aligning yourself perfectly with the ball - but a missed special shot does not erase the stored potential.
