Terminator, The - Future Shock
Synopsis
The Terminator: Future Shock is a first-person shooter video game released by Bethesda Softworks in 1995.
The game depicts Judgment Day taking place in 1995, and then the action shifts to Los Angeles in 2015. The player takes on the role of a human trying to escape the trap set by the Terminators. After escaping from hostile enemy territory during the first mission, the player meets John Connor, the leader of the Resistance. From that point on, the player takes on the role of a Resistance fighter. Skynet’s uprising in 1990 wiped out most of humanity, and control now lies in Skynet’s hands. Death and decay reign all around, dotted with the remnants of a now-destroyed society.
Future Shock is played entirely from a first-person perspective. Each level of the game requires the player to complete a certain number of objectives before moving on to the next level, all while fighting enemy robots using a wide variety of firearms and grenades. Another obstacle to overcome in each level is the hostile terrain, as many areas have radiation levels too high for the player’s character to survive. There are three ways to move around the terrain: “on foot,” in a jeep equipped with a cannon, or in an aerial fighter-killer.
