Synopsis

The King of Fighters XIII is the 13th game in the fighting series and it is based on version 1.1 of the arcade version with some bug fixes. It includes 31 characters, 2 characters never seen in the arcade version like Billy Kane and Saiki, 3 downloadable characters like Mr. Karate, Iori with fire powers and Kyo with a KOF '99 skin. It also contains a number of new stages and game modes that were not included in the arcade version.

Gameplay includes EX moves: requires 1 gauge, Drive Cancel: allows you to cancel special and super special moves using the "Hyper Drive gauge", useful for switching to Hyper Drive mode and executing big combos, Max Cancel: cancels a DM in a move NEO MAX using Hyper Drive and NEO MAX: like Max2 from KOF 2002 but more powerful. When this last move is executed, the background fades to black and the camera zooms in to make the attack more dramatic.
