Synopsis

You don't know if your mysterious surroundings are real or just an apparition, but you are trapped in a dark castle, the home of the depths of your subconscious. The heavy iron door behind you is sealed and there is only one way to escape. You must retrieve your mind's eye, located in the tunnel of death, and return with it to the iron gate. Then, and only then, can you come back to reality.

You'll hear shrieks coming from inside the castle walls and footsteps - not always yours. The Nightmare takes you from the depths of the dungeon, up stone-cold stairs, into three more vast castle floors, all riddled with mysterious chambers, frightening creatures and astonishing treasures. A psychopathic killer is on the loose and a pack of mangy rats, looking for food, are eager to put an end to your quest. Also beware of other horrible creatures standing guard in your mind. A grotesque gargoyle and a headless man, decapitated and locked in the castle by the former occupants, are just two.

However, wonderful magic, once in your possession, will allow you to overcome these frightening obstacles. A glittering silver cross, a book that warns of things to come, a staff that destroys stone, and a magic ring that penetrates otherwise impassable barriers are just a few you might find. Take whatever you find – you never know when it may help you in your spirit's search. Remember that reality awaits your return!
