Synopsis

When his family was massacred by gangsters, Frank Castle became the Punisher. As judge, jury and executioner, the Punisher cleans up New York City one dead criminal at a time. However, if the Punisher can raise $500,000, he can pay an informant to learn the location of Manhattan's biggest criminal, the Kingpin. Working under a time limit and funded by the Trust, the Punisher has only a short time to complete enough missions to raise this sum.

The Punisher is played primarily from a top-down perspective, where the player moves the Punisher through the streets and alleys of New York, entering buildings and eliminating enemies using an array of weapons. The Punisher also travels to the location in his Battle Van, which the player controls in first person, to the mission address. The Punisher also features a scrolling mode in which the Punisher dives and stabs attackers underwater in the way of the boats.
