Synopsis

Time Bandit is a Gauntlet-style arcade game with text adventure elements.

Having nothing to do with Terry Gilliam's Time Bandits film, this game uses the theme of time travel for a quick look at the concept that became famous with Gauntlet two years later. Your bandit visits 16 different worlds across time to grab as much loot as possible and, in the long run, save the universe.

Each of the 16 locations - which include places as varied as a medieval arena, a bomb-making factory, a spaceship wreck and a ghost town - is actually a maze filled with treasure and - you guessed it - monsters. You must dodge these or shoot them down with your weapon, while collecting keys, opening doors and looking for the exit. Although each location is theoretically made up of 16 sublevels, this is simply a reversed or mirrored base plan, some items redistributed, and monster speed increased. After completing a level, you return to the world map, where you can freely choose the next challenge (nice) and save your game (very nice).
