Synopsis
Top Banana is a game that combines everything that was considered hip in the early 90s. With members of experimental music group Coldcut on the development team, it aspired to look like a modern MTV video, with a cool rave intro, crazy "sampled" graphics, and plenty of acid aesthetics. At its core, however, it's a simple platform game with advanced graphics. You control a girl in a rave outfit who jumps through platform worlds and hands out hearts to spread love. The game has an environmentally conscious undertone, as the enemies are representatives of major corporations. Similar to Rainbow Islands, water slowly rises from below, forcing you to quickly reach the top. The graphics are unique and seem to be randomly arranged. The uncompressed samples and sprites on the disks allow players to customize them as they see fit.
