The V4P895P3/SMT V5.0 is a highly popular 80486 Baby AT motherboard manufactured by Legend QDI around 1994. Built on a flexible Socket 3 layout, it is driven by the OPTi 82C895 (often paired with the 82C822) core logic chipset. The "SMT" designation highlights its modern surface-mount technology manufacturing process, which reduced the board's trace lengths and profile. It supports a comprehensive lineup of 486 microprocessors, including Intel SX/DX/DX2, AMD Am486, and Cyrix chips, operating on bus speeds from 25 MHz to 50 MHz. The expansion subsystem features two 32-bit VESA Local Bus (VLB) slots alongside seven 16-bit ISA slots. System memory is managed via four 72-pin SIMM sockets supporting up to 64 MB of RAM, backed by an onboard discrete L2 static cache (SRAM) subsystem expandable up to 512 KB.

The European Clone Standard: QDI motherboards were massive volume sellers across Europe and Asia in the mid-1990s. The V4P895P3 series was highly favored by independent computer shops and system integrators because its highly integrated OPTi chipset offered excellent software compatibility at a fraction of the cost of premium ASUS or Intel-branded hardware.

SMT Manufacturing Transition: In 1994, many budget motherboard manufacturers still relied heavily on through-hole components, which made boards bulky and prone to cold solder joints. QDI heavily marketed the "SMT" (Surface Mount Technology) revision 5.0 to assure buyers of improved structural reliability, lower power consumption, and cleaner signal routing for high-speed DX2-66 processors.
