Synopsis

Violator is a vertical-scrolling shoot 'em up resembling SWIV. You pilot a plane through inhospitable landscapes filled with enemy fighters and flak. Most planes attack you in formation and fire orange projectiles which can be destroyed or avoided. DCA turrets are able to rotate in 8 directions to aim at you as best they can, so be careful to avoid their shots.

There are also larger vehicles that fly across the screen in a vertical line. Helicopters contain power-ups, including additional weapons that you only get for a limited number of shots, speed-ups, and recharge energy (once your vehicle's damage reaches 100%, you lose one of your 5 lives). The planes are huge and shoot constantly, but they offer 5,000 points if shot down. At the end of each level, an even larger plane comes towards you, weaving from left to right while gradually moving down the screen.
