Synopsis

Virtua Fighter 5 R is an updated arcade version of SEGA AM2's 3D fighting game, released in 2008 on SEGA Lindbergh hardware. It retains the series' precise and technical combat system, based on timing, placement, countering and martial arts realism, while refining Virtua Fighter 5's balancing and presentation.

This revision adds new arenas, modified moves for the characters and two important additions to the roster: Jean Kujo, a karateka, and Taka-Arashi, the sumotori returning from Virtua Fighter 3. The Version B and Version C updates then brought other balancing adjustments and some minor refinements to the "gameplay", making Virtua Fighter 5 R one of the most competitive and accomplished installments of the long-running fighting series of SEGA.
