Synopsis

W Ring's influences are rather bizarre and disparate. This shooter clearly has no dreams of greatness, it just wants to be good fun. The developers therefore preferred to draw inspiration from certain works rather than attempt to create their own universe from scratch.
The gameplay is very ordinary. You move horizontally, but with a large margin at the top and bottom via vertical scrolling. You collect powerups to boost your firepower by shooting a specific type of opponent - in short, déjà vu, but effective. As in the Star Soldier series, weapon upgrades are based on the color of the item, giving you five different types of weapon. There are many such upgrade modules throughout the level. When you're hit, you lose your weapon, and if you're already on minimum fire, you lose a life.
