Western
Synopsis
Western Gun, which inspired Gun Fight in the United States (they are similar in gameplay and theme, but they are two different games), is a 1975 arcade shooter designed by Tomohiro Nishikado and published by Taito in Japan and Europe and by Midway Games in North America. It was the first video game to feature combat between humans, while the Midway version was also the first video game to use a microprocessor. After its release in November 1975 in North America, it sold over 8,000 arcade machines in the United States. It was ported to the Bally Astrocade video game console as an integrated game in 1977 as well as to several home computer platforms.
The theme of the game involves two Wild West cowboys armed with revolvers and dueling with each other. Whoever shoots the other cowboy first wins the duel. However, unlike a real duel, the two cowboys have numerous opportunities to fight in order to score points (one point per successful draw).
