Synopsis

Wizardry I & II contains the first two episodes of the Wizardry series: "Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord" and "Knight of Diamond". Both games were ported to the PC Engine CD console (TurboGrafx) with various improvements, not released separately. In fact, both games are merged into one, with the player able to play both games continuously, directly from the main menu.
Although the games are fairly true to the original computer versions in the game and the graphic design, the improvements are significant enough that this version is considered a remake. As in the NES/Famicom version, dungeons have simple graphics, unlike computer originals with their vector lines. The enemy sprites are also more detailed and occupy a larger part of the screen.
From the beginning, a group of six predefined players is available, composed of characters with generic names ("Fighter", "Samurai", etc.); the creation of own characters (unlike the modified version of Might and Magic of PC Engine on CD) remains possible however. Navigation in the dungeon is accompanied by CD audio music orchestrated in this version. Combat music is in PSG format.
