Synopsis

Wizardry III & IV contains two role-playing games from the Wizardry series: Legacy of Llylgamyn and The Return of Werdna. Both games were ported to the PC Engine CD (TurboGrafx) console with various improvements, not released separately. The player automatically begins playing "Legacy of Llylgamyn"; The game "The Return of Werdna" is accessible via the "Utility" option in the town menu. Although the games are fairly faithful to the original computer versions in terms of gameplay and graphic design, the improvements are significant enough that it is a remake.
Unlike the computer originals with their vector lines, dungeons now have simple graphics. Enemy sprites are also drawn in more detail. From the start, a group of six predefined players is available, consisting of characters with generic names ("Fighter", "Samurai", etc.); However, the creation of your own characters (unlike the modified version of Might and Magic from PC Engine on CD) remains possible. Naturally, in The Return of Werdna, the player himself controls Werdna and his summoned monsters. Another notable change is the inclusion of orchestrated audio CD music for dungeon navigation and (eventually) battle music.
