Synopsis

The fourth installment in the Wizardry series, The Return of Werdna, takes a decidedly different approach from all the games that came before it. Instead of playing with a party of six player-created characters, the player controls Werdna himself, the evil archmage from the first game. It appears that after being defeated by the group of adventurers who stole his amulet, Werdna was trapped deep in his ten-level maze in an eternal sleep, tortured by nightmares for eternity. Although Werdna was supposed to sleep forever, he somehow awoke and now seeks revenge.
