Synopsis

Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair distinguishes itself from other series entries by blending platforming and shoot 'em up gameplay. Players control a green-haired hero defending the land, transitioning from standard platforming to shooter segments as they explore deeper into the skull-themed levels.

During action scenes, your vitality drops as you approach the skull but can be restored by collecting fruit. Picking up weapons not only lets you use them temporarily but also boosts your vitality.

In shooter scenes, you ride your pink companion through enemies while your health stays constant until you take a hit. Each level ends with a color-changing boss that indicates damage taken, with some requiring 2 stages to defeat.

If your vitality gets low in each scene, you'll lose a life. You can also choose to have Wonder Girl join you, as 2 players can play the game.
