Worlds Of Flight
Synopsis
Worlds of Flight is a civil flight simulator representing a single-engine training aircraft, capable of limited aerobatics and equipped with a steerable and retractable gear. The landscape is organized into 9 adjacent maps called "worlds" plus a common airport landscape that recurs on each map. Views are drawn as wireframe graphs to save memory, and you can switch between maps to take longer flights. The worlds/maps have 3D objects like towers and mountains that need to be avoided or navigated, and there are beacons that allow you to use IFR instruments to find airports. There is a “radar” view to help you check your location on the map during IMC training. The game starts by setting the weather in the worlds, with wind/cloud caps, then you move to the plane at the airport. Your view is from inside the cockpit and to look around, the view can be shifted 90 degrees to either side and 8 degrees up relative to the orientation/tilt of the aircraft. On steep climbs the view/head angle is adjusted (to a limit) to try to keep the horizon visible. The Worlds are called: Mountain World #1, Arabian Gulf, Panama City, Dahlgren VA, Practice Field, Mountain World #2, Island Bay, Mountain World #3, Power Line River. The airport scenery is busy every time you get close enough, below the ceiling/400 feet and about 4000 feet from the runway threshold.
