Synopsis

Xbox Live Arcade was officially announced on May 12, 2004, at Microsoft's E3 press conference by Bill Gates and launched on December 3, 2004 for Xbox. The software distributed on disk was obtained by ordering it on the Microsoft site, distributed with special issues of the official Xbox magazine and in the Forza Motorsport console pack or in Xbox Live connection and subscription kits. The service launched with six titles and grew its library by twelve titles by the end of 2004. Once connected to Xbox Live, customers could purchase titles using a credit card or download a limited trial version.
