Synopsis

Xenon is the dark and mysterious predecessor of the much better known Xenon 2: Megablast. The game is actually nothing like its sequel, with a completely different control scheme and gameplay. The plot intersects, however, with the Xenites' first attempt to control the galaxy.

Xenon is essentially an aerial shooter, where the player controls the ship in 8 directions, unlike its sequel Xenon II where you can only slow down progression.

The game also features a 3D playing field (some enemies, for example, will be mounted on hills, where players will not be able to shoot them). To fight them, the player can transform his tank into a plane. The game then transitions into the more familiar gameplay style seen in other vertical scrolling shooters. The plane must transform back into a tank to fight most ground units.

Upgrades can be obtained from destroyed enemies.
