Synopsis

Adol Christin is on a liner called the Lombardia which is heading from Xandria to the continent of Eresia. He and Dogi were recruited as members of the ship's crew in exchange for boarding the ship. The ship's captain, Captain Barbaros, tells Adol the story of the cursed island of Seiren, where ships have disappeared while passing its perimeter. However, Adol's journey was interrupted by a huge sea monster that attacked the ship. He and the other passengers are thrown overboard as the monster drags the ship to the bottom of the sea.

Later, Adol woke up on the beach of Seiren Island. An island of ancient and wild nature, populated by creatures found nowhere else in the world. Later, he discovers that other people have washed up on the island. To facilitate their search for other survivors and to better defend themselves against the primordial beasts that prowl the island, Adol and his fellow castaways establish an encampment called the Village of the Castaways.

Soon after, Adol has cryptic dreams about a mysterious young woman with blue hair, whom he has never met before.
