Beetle PC-FX

RetroArch core (Mednafen) for the NEC PC-FX. It covers the machine: PCFX.

1. Installation

1. In RetroArch: Load Core → Download a Core.
2. Search for Beetle PC-FX in the list and install it.
3. Return to the main menu, then Load Content to open your game.

2. System files

This emulator relies on files extracted from the original machine. Dump them yourself from hardware you own.

Files expected according to our sheet:

• pcfx.rom

Indicated location: /bios/pcfx/

PC-FX BIOS required

3. Supported formats

.cue .ccd .toc .chd

The .chd format is lossless compression: a single, noticeably smaller file per game.

4. Good to know

• Settings are found in Quick Menu → Options, once the game is loaded.
• Remember to Save Core Overrides to keep them between sessions.
• Controllers are configured once in Settings → Input, for all cores.

5. Not working?

• Refuses to start or black screen → a system file is missing, misnamed, or not in the expected location.
• File rejected → its checksum doesn't match the expected one; the dump is probably incomplete or comes from a different model.
• Game doesn't appear → check that its extension is among the formats listed above.
• Core won't load → update RetroArch, then reinstall it.
