La crème des émulateurs CPC écrit en Java et sous Windows. Au début du projet, il reprenait les sources de JEMU écrites par R. Wilson et de celles d'Enhanced Emulator par Markus Hohmann. La mouture actuelle nommée Desktop est plus qu'un simple émulateur car elle intègre son propre environnement de bureau, et reprenant des caractéristiques de Windows (Menu Démarrer, icônes...). Elle contient entre autres un logiciel de dessin, une messagerie instantanée, une calculatrice pour votre Amstrad CPC, un tchat, une horloge et d'autres fonctionnalités.
Il dispose aussi d'un "Gamebrowser" situé sur le desktop, cochez l'option "Boot Games" situé en haut du browser : le jeu se lancera automatiquement via la commande qui s'adaptera à votre configuration AZERTY ou QWERTY !
L'icône BDD-Database (Bases De Données) vous donne -via un GUI- la possibilité de vous connecter sur plusieurs bases de données CPC : Amstrad.eu, CPC-Devilmarkus (JavaCPC games & demos) et la titanesque BDD CPC-POWER. Vous aurez un aperçu du titre avec même la prise en charge du multi-DSK et des sauvegardes d'état (.sna) ! Egalement est disponible la possibilité de vous connecter sur le site de la BDD en question par navigateur interne (celui de JavaCPC basé (app Internet Explorer) ou externe (le vôtre).
Les caractéristiques principales :
- émulation très précise des ordinateurs de la gamme Amstrad CPC,
- émulation parfaite de la puce sonore AY et du digiblaster,
- émulation des CRTC 0 et 1 pour bien faire tourner presque toutes les démos,
- traduction du clavier en Anglais, Allemand, Espagnol,
- des fonctions utiles comme le player YM, un logiciel de dessin JavaCPC Paint,
- un lecteur virtuel de cassettes qui supporte les formats CDT, CSW, WAV et MP3...
- un très bon streaming de musiques CPC (Radio Roland)
...et surtout cette fameuse interface où vous avez un accès direct à plusieurs bases de données CPC (avec screenshots et différentes informations) avec prise en charge des jeux sur plusieurs disquettes (DSK) et les .SNA.

The cream of the crop among CPC emulators, written in Java for Windows. At the start of the project, it built on the JEMU sources written by R. Wilson and those of Enhanced Emulator by Markus Hohmann. The current version, called Desktop, is more than a simple emulator since it includes its own desktop environment, borrowing features from Windows (Start Menu, icons...). Among other things, it includes a drawing program, instant messaging, a calculator for your Amstrad CPC, a chat, a clock, and other features. It also has a "Gamebrowser" on the desktop; check the "Boot Games" option at the top of the browser and the game will launch automatically via the command adapted to your AZERTY or QWERTY keyboard layout! The BDD-Database icon gives you -via a GUI- the ability to connect to several CPC databases: Amstrad.eu, CPC-Devilmarkus (JavaCPC games & demos), and the massive CPC-POWER database. You'll get a preview of the title, with support for multi-DSK and save states (.sna)! You can also connect to the relevant database website through an internal browser (JavaCPC's own, based on Internet Explorer) or an external one (your own). 1. Installation
- Download the latest version from the project's official website.
- Extract the archive into a dedicated folder.
- Launch it once: it will create its configuration and subfolders.

3. Good to know
- These machines often boot to a command prompt: the game is launched with a command, not from a menu.
- Emulation speed matters: if it's too fast, the software becomes unplayable. Look for the speed or cycles setting.
- The keyboard is the main input device; the emulated layout may differ from your own.
4. Not working?
- Game doesn't show up → check that its extension is among the formats listed above.
- Software runs too fast or too slow → adjust the emulation speed before anything else.
