The Xbox 360 version of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night gets recompiled for PC
Italian developer Marco Andronaco, aka birabittoh, released NocturneRecomp on July 1, 2026, a static recompilation project for the Xbox Live Arcade version of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Built on the ReXGlue SDK, the tool converts the original Xbox 360 executable's PowerPC code into native x86_64 code at build time, then wraps it in a small custom runtime handling logging, overlays and hooks.
This approach, popularized in recent years by projects like Zelda 64: Recompiled, produces a result much closer to a genuine PC port than a simple emulation session, running natively on both Windows and Linux and able to be modded like any other PC game.
NocturneRecomp contains no code, data or assets from the original game: every user must own their own copy of the Xbox Live Arcade version of Symphony of the Night and extract its files to build their own personal version, a process that requires a bit of technical know-how.
The project's source code and build instructions are freely available on the GitHub releases page, while the repository's README serves as a detailed build guide to walk players through the process step by step.
