Commodore Returns To Publishing With The Alien Breed 35th Anniversary Collection

Commodore announced the Alien Breed 35th Anniversary Collection on 24 August 2026, a compilation that marks the brand's return to game publishing. The collection arrives on 24 September 2026 on PC via Steam, GOG and the Epic Games Store, as well as on PlayStation and Xbox. A Nintendo Switch version is planned for later in the year.

Six titles make up the package, all drawn from the Amiga catalogue: Alien Breed (1991), Alien Breed Special Edition (1992), Alien Breed II The Horror Continues (1993, in both its ECS and AGA versions), Alien Breed Tower Assault (1994, Amiga and CD32 versions), Alien Breed 3D (1995, CD32 version) and Alien Breed 3D II TKG (1996). The series, originally developed by Team17, did much to establish the studio as one of the most inventive of its era.

Considerably more than a straight port. The compilation adds dual-stick aiming, instant save states, retro screen filters, rumble feedback, peer-to-peer online co-op in the titles that support it and brand-new challenge modes. On top of that sits a digital archive gathering developer interviews, design documents and material that has stayed unreleased since the 1990s, a preservation strand that Antstream Arcade helped put together.

Peri Fractic, who heads the new Commodore, calls the project "exactly the right one to launch Commodore back into publishing", while Antstream boss Steve Cottam stresses the importance of "preserving games for future generations".
