Tengo Project Revives S.C.A.T. With Cybernetic Attack Final Mission, Playable At TGS 2026
Winning Entertainment Group has revealed Tengo Project's next undertaking: Cybernetic Attack Final Mission, a 16-bit reworking of the shoot'em up released on Famicom on 22 June 1990 as Final Mission, and known in the West as S.C.A.T.: Special Cybernetic Attack Team. The studio, staffed by Natsume veterans, continues the run of overhauls that began with Wild Guns Reloaded, The Ninja Saviors and Pocky & Rocky Reshrined.
The original design remains intact: one or two players control cyborgs propelled through the air, flanked by two orbiting satellites aimed independently of the character's movement. Comparisons with Capcom's Forgotten Worlds come easily, since the formula rests on juggling body and gunfire at once across stages that alternate horizontal and vertical scrolling.
The roster grows considerably compared to the Famicom version. Joining the two original protagonists are Titan, a hulking mech, and Queen Bee, a jetbike rider with a deliberately lighter design. The studio sticks to its usual method, meticulously reworked pixel art rather than a 3D overhaul, with a retro-futuristic art direction faithful to the mood of 1990.
Neither a release date nor platforms have been announced, but a playable demo will be shown at the Tokyo Game Show, which opens its doors on 17 September 2026. The game is set to support English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. The game's page is tracked on Gematsu, which collects the publisher's official announcements.
